The Dynafit ST Rotation 10 Bindings mark a significant step forward in touring binding technology. Dynafit has been developing new and redesigning older designs in recent years to accommodate for more aggressive freeride skiers who demand high performance and safety out of their bindings. With so many skiers moving to frame touring bindings for their downhill performance, Dynafit subscribes to the school of thought that it’s not actually necessary. They have released a series of bindings that offer increased downhill performance and increased safety thanks to better retention and release. This is largely thanks to the new Rotation Toe Piece. By allowing the toe of the binding to rotate Dynafit has increased elastic travel, which means better retention when hitting small bumps and abrupt impacts. It drastically reduces pre-releases out of these tech fit bindings, something that aggressive skiers have been demanding for years. Of course, because they’re a tech fit design, they are significantly lighter than any frame binding, which makes ascents much easier and much less fatiguing so you have more energy for the descents. As long as you have a tech fit ski boot the Dynafit ST Rotation 10 provides a pretty strong argument that you really don’t need a frame touring binding even if you’re a high speed, aggressive skier.
