The Liberty Origin 96 Skis with Bindings is an award-winning set up that just oozes all-mountain versatility. The Origin 96 excels at providing confident edging in varied conditions while still retaining a playful personality on hardpack and looser snow alike. The Origin 96 gets the VMT 1.0 treatment, and this includes the addition of one metal strut to the central portion of the ski. It’s a bit of metal, but since they use it in a vertical manner, it really comes to life, offering the Origin 96 a level of energy and stability that is quite noticeable. As usual, the skis have a blend of bamboo and poplar wood in the core with carbon stringers, but this metal strut really takes the ski to the next level. It retains its fun-factor for sure, but adds quite a bit more snap and energy, as well as power. One of the nice things about vertical metal is that it has the performance factor of a horizontal laminate but not the weight. When it’s embedded in the core, it feels like part of the ski, rather than a stand-alone layer. Intermediate to expert skiers who love playfulness, freeride capabilities and all mountain versatility will come to appreciate the Liberty Origin 96 Skis with Bindings as the only set up they will ever need, East or West.
