The Salomon S/Lab MTN Summit Ski Boots were built with the help of Cody Townsend, A Salomon team athlete and ski mountaineer, who is currently trying to climb and ski 50 of the most challenging and coveted back country ski lines in North America. In order to do this, he needs a boot that is both lightweight for long skin approaches yet sturdy enough to tackle the steepest slopes. The Salomon S/Lab MTN Summit Ski Boots are his answer. Tipping the scales at 1570 grams, it’s light and powerful with a 120 flex. The S/Lab MTN Summit’s shell layout consists of a heat-moldable Grilamid and lower shell, and Pebax upper cuff, and a carbon-reinforced “spine.” With its walk mechanism in ski mode, the cuff attaches to the spine, which is bolted to the lower shell. The MTN Summit boots have an external “Surelock” walk mechanism, that’s still easy to open and close with gloves, thanks to a little pull tab In walk mode, the cuff detaches from the spine, allowing for lots of range of motion. The S/Lab MTN Summit boot comes equipped with Salomon’s “Custom Fit Tour Light Liner,” which is heat-moldable. The MTN Summit series is built with Salomon’s new 6-point BOA closure system with a “touring belt” (a flexible elastic/rubber piece over the ankle) that’s adjusted via the BOA closure system across the ankle/instep area of the boot. If Salomon S/Lab MTN Summit Ski Boots is good enough for Mr. Towsend and his extreme adventures, then it’s certainly good enough for you.
