Stockli has sat at the pinnacle of quality and precision for quite some time now and when you click into one of their skis, it’s easy to see why they developed such a fanatical following over the years. The Stormrider 88 has been a staple in Stockli’s product collection for a few years at this point, and this year it returns with a few subtle tweaks to improve the effectiveness of the ski in softer snow without compromising its power and stability on firmer snow. A wood core and two sheets of metal laid overtop the core give the ski a very balanced and uniform flex. While not the stiffest ski its category, the Stormrider 88 provides one of the smoothest ski experiences out there. A full sidewall built from what Stockli calls a Polywall does a phenomenal job at helping to keep the ski quiet by absorbing impacts and vibrations. New to the Stormrider 88 this season is Stockli’s new Freeride Tip Technology which is a lighter more elongated tip intended to increase float without sacrificing power or edge hold. The result is a more well-rounded ski. For skiers who prioritize groomed or firmer snow in their daily skiing preferences, the Stormrider 88 skis with bindings would be a great daily-driver option.
